The Venice of Languedoc
Built astride the Thau lagoon and the Mediterranean Sea, this pretty town of Sète is run through by canals. Built in the 17th century when the construction of the Canal du Midi ended, Sète was meant to become the harbour of the Mediterranean Sea. At the time, this inauguration was celebrated by festivities including water festivities, which Sète has kept the tradition to celebrate since then. Those games still take place every summer on the canals of the Languedoc town.
